Just Some Bright Ideas

Check this from time to time to see how my mind wanders over “current events”.

I had a brilliant idea after reading the morning paper.  There was an article relating how high interest rates leading to larger mortgages are making it nearly impossible for middle income earners to purchase a home.

Now here’s the idea.  Any homeowner who managed to get a high interest mortgage after January 1, 2020 will have their mortgage forgiven.  Reason?  These are people who are actually working and being productive members of society.  They are trying to establish stable homes and raise families.

Then there was another idea.  How about paying the loans for any construction worker or contractor who must have one of those large heavy duty trucks to use in their business.  Thos trucks are expensive and the interest rates are pretty high.  Reason?  Those people are getting out of bed every morning and actually going to work.

Oh, and another great idea.  Free education for trade schools.  Anyon who wants to be a plumber, electrician, welder, framer, carpenter, mason, and all the rest gets trade school for free.  Reason?  Those are the people who build and fix things; they are the ones actually working for a living, having trouble buying that work vehicle and having trouble buying that house for their family.

Yet, what do we do?  We debate paying of college loans for people who piled up debt “studying” something which, in so many cases, has little practical value.  They get degrees in “The Philosophy of Philosophy”, or get a Liberal Arts Degree in General Studies…now, that has real value.  Then they mooch off their parents and avoid getting a job because waitressing is so beneath a person with a Liberal Arts Degree.  And goodness, working an eight hour day?  Who actually does that?

And then…through their own decision making, they come to the realization they owe a lot of money.  Signing their name to a contract means nothing when it comes to someone else paying the bill.
